The Garden Story…
Humble Beginnings
Around 2012, God placed a vision in the hearts of many people, to establish a physical location as a foundation for serving, experiencing community, and a resting place for Him. There were a number of Church communities in Maryland who were beginning to blend together, host events, and develop relationships. But, we had no consistent, concrete-physical location. Our hearts were stirring to come up with longer term solutions for the homeless, hungry, poor, weary, hopeless and oppressed. We needed a place where collective efforts, love, and the working of the Holy Spirit could be channeled and flow. During a group prayer session, God revealed a huge vision to us. As we began to discuss our thoughts, images, and dreams, “The Garden” was formed.
Our Plans
Branching & Networking
Throughout Maryland, about a dozen Church groups have been consistently hosting events, parties, and gatherings. Together on many occasions, we have experienced life-changing moments, the power of Jesus Christ, and the depth of a lifelong saga. Friendships, partnerships, and networking have been taking place, and continue to expand rapidly. Dreams, visions, worship, and Biblical understanding have been shared with each other; all the while, God has been preparing us for something greater.

Growth & Maturity
Several years ago, small-cell physical locations began to take root, as several people began operating houses to bring people in, and provide a hosting base for events and gatherings. Living in tight quarters and bringing in the harvest of people, maturity and growth were occurring. At one point there were 13 women in one house, and 16 men in another. Plus, there were other groups housing together, starting musical collaborations, and serving in missions, ministries, and Churches. Faith, resources, and patience were all being tested during the season of maturation.

Establishment & Organization
In December 2018, The Garden, Inc. Non-Profit Board members began to meet. Planning, alignment, and collaboration were the main topics of conversation. It was time to take the next step. God continued to open new doors of opportunity, and increased responsibility were being revealed. We continued to gather, discuss and pray. We have filed for 501(c)3 Non-Profit agency status under the United States tax code. All the while, properties were being explored, and we are grateful not to have ventured down the wrong path (several times). And then, a 20-acre farm in Damascus, MD became a hot target. It was purchased before it even became available to the public market. This is where we are supposed to be!

Moving Forward into 2020
Before the Community Of Opportunity can begin to help and support people in need, our first year will be focused on building, preparing, and organizing the property. A core team of both The Garden, Inc. board members and people who understand the vision has been assembled. This new season will bring a lot of planning, hard work, diligence, commitment, and teamwork. We are blessed and thankful for God’s provision! We will continue to prayerfully expect increase paralleled with maturity. We are hopeful to accomplish dreams, serve people, develop community, and reveal the love of Jesus Christ!
